About
Path to Purpose: Community-Based Projects – Your Journey to Impact
Welcome to Path to Purpose: Community-Based Projects, a signature year-long experiential learning program from the University of Florida's Brown Center for Leadership & Service! This program empowers UF students from all academic backgrounds to become effective community leaders by partnering with local Gainesville organizations to co-create and implement impactful, capacity-building projects.
Our approach is grounded in Asset-Based Service-Learning (ABSL), which means we work collaboratively with communities to identify and leverage their inherent strengths and resources. The program is also structured using an Immersive Learning Practices (ILP) framework, guiding you through deep learning via authentic experiences, structured reflection, and active engagement.
Over the academic year, you will:
- Develop meaningful, ethical partnerships with community organizations.
- Apply asset-based principles to co-design innovative projects addressing real community opportunities.
- Gain hands-on experience in project implementation, management, and evaluation.
- Cultivate vital leadership skills, workforce readiness, and a profound sense of civic purpose.
Embark on your Path to Purpose and transform your passion into impactful action!
